Metro: Last Light – Review

There’s a returning focus on ammo preservation, although it’s definitely been tamed outside of the harder ‘Ranger’ mode. So, I naturally swapped to a stealthy, defensive approach to combat. 4A Games proprietary engine does lighting exceptionally well, and the levels are each designed with the same degree of flexibility as Arkham City. It’s a game that Metro Last Light recalls often during your exchanges with enemies.

Ultratron – Review

The deceptively simple gameplay can elicit plenty of different strategies through upgrades, and being primarily about your high score, there’s always room for improvement. PuppyGames has delivered a great feeling arcade shoot-em-up.

BioShock Infinite – Review

You might not be playing Bioshock Infinite, or maybe you haven’t yet, but you really should be. Or have been. Or definitely going to. Do it.

SimCity – Review

I’m not alone in my issues of simply running the game, even a week past launch. As much as it pains me to say this, I’d recommend not purchasing SimCity until there’s overwhelming positive support from the users. This is an extremely disappointing, as underneath it all, there seems to be a good game in there, just not one you can engage with consistently enough.

Sword of the Stars: The Pit – Review

If the core tactical gameplay sounds attractive, you’ll be sure to get a few hours of fun for the price of admission. That said, it’s a tough game to recommend unless the crafting system gets a systematic overhaul. As it stands, the game is a fun diversion but needlessly obtuse.

Crysis 3 – Review

What I’d really hoped for was a solid, replayable campaign and I’ve been utterly disappointed on that front. Unlike the previous entries, Crysis 3 has maybe two good levels in it, and that’s a damn shame.

Kentucky Route Zero, Act 1 – Review

It is a bit hard to recommend putting down the full $25 for such a short experience that has little replay value. We don’t even know how much ‘game’ will be offered over the 5 episodes. However, if you are looking to kill an hour, and have some faith the remaining 4 episodes will live up to expectations, Kentucky Route Zero provides a unique moodiness.

Aliens: Colonial Marines – Review

Don’t buy Aliens: Colonial Marines. It’s bad and boring. Perhaps a victim of licensing or maybe problems between the four different developers that touched it, Aliens: Colonial Marines isn’t a game worth your money or time. It’s junk, through and through.

Primal Carnage – Review

At the end of the day, I have to score it based on bad execution combined with some awesome moments. I think I’m burnt out on multiplayer shooters but damn I think I’ll keep Primal Carnage installed. It’s fun, and that’s what we’re here for, right? Hope to see some of you on one night. I’ll be the Novaraptor ripping your jugular out.

War of the Roses – Review

If you pre-purchased War of the Roses, you’re likely enjoying the competitive package offered here. However, without the tools necessary to more easily learn the game’s systems, it is difficult to recommend.

XCOM: Enemy Unknown – Impressions

XCOM: Enemy Unknown will place you in control of a secret paramilitary organization called XCOM. As the XCOM commander, you will defend against a terrifying global alien invasion by managing resources, advancing technologies, and overseeing combat strategies and individual unit tactics. XCOM: Enemy Unknown will expand on that legacy with an entirely new invasion story, enemies and technologies to fight aliens and defend Earth.

Guild Wars 2 – Review

I love Tyria, of course, including the parts I don’t. Arena-style PvP forms an interesting diversion, to be sure, and it seems remarkably well-balanced. The maps are tight, scoring is based on control points, and demand a level of precision and tactics not necessary in the co-op world outside of dungeoneering.
