We recently spoke with Robot Entertainment community manager and internet icon Justin Korthof about their latest project, Orcs Must Die! 2. Of course, he had excellent answers to all of our burning questions.
Hurtling through time and space like a fat guy falling down a really deep hole, this week we find your fearless heroes discussing the best intro and ending sequences in gaming history. They also take pause from saving the universe to discuss Space Marine, The Walking Dead, and the untold stories of Fraggle Rock.
In adapting the game to the 360, CD Projekt RED put special emphasis on character model resolutions, so Geralt and his companions look rather nice even compared to the PC. I was shocked that the 360 version keeps the insanely detailed environments of the original game. Though the resolution and texture quality take a major hit, the forest surrounding Flotsam (the hub of Act 1) puts even Skyrim’s flora and fauna to shame.
This week we talk about Trials Evolution and our upcoming Microsoft Community Playdate, which are OK for kids. Then we talk about Awesomenauts and Guild Wars 2, which might be OK for kids. Then we talk about Witcher 2 and The Walking Dead, which are NOT FOR KIDS. Also, Twitter questions!
Trials HD was considered a masterpiece for its technical proficiency, addictive qualities, and pick-up-and-play nature. But instead of changing much with Trials Evolution, RedLynx decided to play it safe. They released more of what their fans loved while not improving the periphery in any meaningful way.
“Fable Heroes” on Xbox LIVE Arcade is an action-packed hack-and-slash adventure set in the “Fable” universe, it is a fresh spin on the franchise, taking playful competition to the next level with four player co-op, time trials and leaderboards on Xbox LIVE. In “Fable Heroes” players work together to defeat enemies while also competing with each other to collect gold coins, which will level up their character and unlock unique items in “Fable: The Journey” when it launches later this year.
Judging by the promo materials and the the developer’s past success, Bloodforge could have been a winner. Instead, a combination of deep-rooted design flaws and bugs make this a poor God of War clone. Even at the price of 1200 Microsoft Points, this one isn’t worth your money or your time.
You could commend the game for the volume of content, but the majority that I played was filler rather than killer. For returning players there might be some curiosity regarding the series’ hero, and the new Titan, but for any newcomer tempted by the promise of pirates the disappointment will quickly set in. This will be a game that people will end up picking up as part of a Steam sale, and lay unplayed in their library.
Trials Evolution is taking XBLA by storm, and we’ve teamed up with Microsoft to do an official Community Playdate via Xbox.com! If you’re interested, go grab a copy of Trials Evolution on the Xbox Marketplace, then rev up your bike on May 4th to show us your stuff!
We’re back doing our best to keep the world from ending. Niki hates all of you, but loves Prototype 2. Pete talks about Arkham City’s eventual shark-jumping, then promptly dies (or does he?) Adam talks Dragon’s Dogma, The Walking Dead, and why you shouldn’t base your life off of warnings shouted at you by random vagrants in alleys. Dan questions the choices in his life that have led him to this (not audibly.)
