Far Cry 3 is an open world first-person shooter set on an island unlike any other. A place where heavily armed warlords traffic in slaves. Where outsiders are hunted for ransom. And as you embark on a desperate quest to rescue your friends, you realize that the only way to escape this darkness… is to embrace it. FC3 is fun, but the world feels flat to me a few hours in. Needs a third faction or NPCs that actually have lives, methinks. For all the ecology, it never approaches the quasi-simulation of (modded) Skyrim. I want to be immersed, shun fast travel, and avoid the gameyness, but there’s not enough depth there.
