Nintendo Land is a fun and lively virtual theme park filled with attractions based on popular Nintendo game worlds. Each attraction features unique and innovative gameplay experiences made possible by the Wii U GamePad controller. Depending on the attraction, players can choose to play solo, compete against other players, or even team up to play cooperatively. Up to five players can participate in dynamic multiplayer modes in select attractions. The experiences change depending on whether players are using the Wii U GamePad, a Wii Remote controller or just watching others play on the TV screen. However you choose to play, a whole new realm of fun awaits on the Wii U with Nintendo Land. [See the full post at: http://splitkick.com/nintendo-land/] Jett LandichoQuote

Not at launch Art. Games rarely pack with consoles anymore at launch. PeterQuote

I understand that– it’s just not a good value compared to the other choices. Especially during Christmas! Anyone know if a Mario Party is incoming for WiiU? Art DeetuQuote

I am trying really hard not to hijack this review thread but one last time! What do you guys feel about the Mii’s being your player character? it was always a big turn off for me when I saw it on the original Wii, is it optional for some games and required for others? Art DeetuQuote

I really like the ‘option’ to have the Mii be the player character in party games. Mario Party, etc, are fun when you can instantly recognize your friends on screen. I imagine Super Smash Bros with Mii support would also be pretty damn fun. Aaron PhokalQuote

The site wasn’t letting me post before, but I can now. Whoo! What I meant by reality was that the mini-games were based on real sports, versus Nintendo Land where you’re hunting ghosts and stuff, which totally isn’t real (I hope). Miis are mandatory for all Nintendo Land mini-games. I personally like playing as my dude in these worlds, and I think they fit within the context of the game itself. Jett LandichoQuote

Ew. Isn’t one of the big draws to Smash Bros. the fact that you’re using Nintendo mascots to kick the crap out of each other? Jim HunterQuote

Definitely, but imagine if you could break up the monotony of Pikachu vs. Link vs. Kirby vs. whoever by throwing in a round or two where everyone plays as “themselves”. Super Smash is all about having ridiculous fun, and throwing in Mii’s is fine. Aaron PhokalQuote

I didn’t generally like it on the Wii either, but for Nintendo Land it fits (and the whole Wii U social media aspect too). Looking back it seems like they were just testing the waters with the Mii. With the Wii U it’s fully realized and works a lot better. Plus in every game in Nintendo Land your Mii is dressed to suit the theme. In Metroid Blast you’re dressed as Samus. In Zelda Battle Quest you’re dressed as Link. Donkey Kong Crash Course you’re a little trolly thing with your Mii’s face on it. Etc. etc. JJQuote

Not having played the game yet, I do find it strange that some of the games are single-player only. You make a good point, Jett, stating one of the Wii’s major selling point was living room antics with friends, so I do find it odd to have so many single-player games. Perhaps Nintendo is hoping their fanbase evolves with the system and starts to focus on more solo adventures. Or not… JsickQuote
