This week’s show starts off with some random discussion of bro handshakes, and continues to that radical SimCity beta. We also manage to talk a bit about Dante in DmC: Devil May Cry all while Ben is away, lost on some tropical island. All ways nice to hear The Rocket Jump Pod cast, with or without somebody eating Also that tilt-shift ting in Simcity, I never thought that would be something that would use a lot of graphic power… Hmmm weird, but i can see your probably right ! Thansk for the show PeterQuote

I was excited when they announced a new Sim City, but everything about EA’s handling of it (Origin, mandatory internet connection/DRM) made me very hesitant. I’m getting more optimistic about it but will probably wait for reviews, whereas under other circumstances I would have pre-ordered months ago. I wonder if the ease of building a city compared to previous versions is to counteract the competition from multi-player, since they seem to indicate that there will be limited resources throughout a region. We’ll have to wait and see what the final version brings, but I didn’t see anything too egregious with the beta. The game is pretty great. Jim HunterQuote

Depth of field effects are among some of the most intense graphics effects out there, ranging from simple diffusion DoF all the way up to bokeh DoF. It’s part of the reason things like ENB mods can be so intensive on your system. David HughesQuote

Aaron said something towards the end of the ‘cast about Skyrim getting bumped for games that are shorter. I’ve always taken the opposite approach and preferred to buy a few games I can get heavily invested and immersed in, and which become massive time sinks. 240 hours of Guild Wars 2, even if I never go back, was a fantastic use of $40 (special pre-order price). With Skyrim, it’s no secret Maria and I are both huge fans. By the time the latest DLC expansion comes out we’ll have spent a combined $300 on the game (collector, 360 copy, 2 PC copies, DLC). I’ll probably give the Nexus some $ soon as well, but we’ve played a combined 600 hours+ (and counting). I love that goddamn game David HughesQuote
