Oh no…. Ohhhh nooooo. Oh no. This game could potentially kill you. Or at least steal all your time away. Jim HunterQuote

Good thing the beta is a 1 hour time limit, yes? David HughesQuote

It’s an hour max per play… So, of what you can for an hour, then start over. Jim HunterQuote

Got into the second closed beta this weekend. Pretty sure the content available was the same as the first beta. I like a lot of the things they have done. Density based on roads should solve a lot of traffic problems I had in SC4. I definitely like the idea of building up existing utilities/services rather than having to build new ones for each area. I’m definitely interested in the specialization and resource limitations but with only the gambling spec. in the beta and only an hour to build up a tourist base to use that, it was hard to see how effective that might be. I tried relaunching after dinner and it is stuck checking for updates (it updated a few hours ago), so I can’t get back in. I guess I need to connect to the specific server my city was at too to get back to it. Hope it’s regularly available. Guess I’ll be playing Tomb Raider tonight. DylanQuote

Maybe this is just another SimCity “disaster”. “We can’t connect to your city! Call the FBI to save your Sims from a massive fire sale!” JJQuote

I tried to play Tomb Raider, but the download was going slower than expected (10GB on Steam), so I ended up watching the end of Twilight instead with my wife. 15 minutes of that 4 movies series is pretty good! Jim HunterQuote

I finally got in to play today on US East 4 and created a 16 person private region, ‘Splitkickia’. Let me know if you want an invite and I’ll try, but for some reason SimCity is saying I don’t have any friends, which is patently false. Jim HunterQuote

I would love to get this, I just don’t know if my computer is up to snuff. Thoughts on my specs below? Windows Vista (32bit) I think I need to just suck it up and upgrade to a 64bit OS so I can take advantage of the 8GB of RAM I actually have. This computer could use a good fresh install anyway. The game will run on a toaster from what I understand. Also, nothing will use 8GB of RAM right now. You’ll be lucky to get full use out of 4. Daniel TolinQuote

Invited! Right now I’ve got a Department of Education in my city. Not sure if we should coordinate who’s taking what for their focuses. Jim HunterQuote

“Splitkickia”? Did you put a bird on it? Anyway, I’m on origin, own Sim City, and managed to play the tutorial before it told me the servers were down. Invite away. You *know* what I’m specializing in. Aaron PhokalQuote

I’d recommend you start a city in one of the sub-regions another city is in, since it appears you cannot share resources with anyone not connected by road. That’s kind of a weird feature for the mulit-player game. I’m not sure if there are any benefits that can really be shared other than the city hall departments beyond the 4-5 cities in each sub-region. DylanQuote

This is a new SimCity that delivers unprecedented depth of simulation. The model-like world and detail of the simulation make this the most responsive and personal SimCity ever. This is also the most expansive city management game yet where you can control a region that delivers true multi-city scale and play a single city or up to 16 cities at once each with different specializations. Multiplayer is also a first for the series, which adds a new dimension to your game as your decisions impact both your city and your region and creates new ways to play by collaborating or competing to earn achievements. Finally, SimCity is a live service that simulates real time updates from new challenges to new features and content. [See the full post at: http://splitkick.com/simcity/] Jim HunterQuote

I’m sorry Dylan and other members of Splitkickia. I’ve just uninstalled the game. When I hear that it’s completely fixed, I’ll reinstall it, but I’m tired of this game not working properly. I’m stuck at a dialog that says “Processing Large File… Please Wait” and have “waited” for 24 hours while it stayed at the exact same point in the process. Searching the EA forums shows that others are having the same issue. Feel free to abandon your cities. I’m so disappointed in this game. Jim HunterQuote
