Fall Damage: 138 – The Phatter Loot Show

23 September 2012 by Adam Bash

Welcome to Pandora, kiddos. Adam and Dan break hiatus one week early to talk about Borderlands 2, Torchlight II, Spy Party, cat assassins, and mustard. There’s also a very special ECHO Communication from Pete, definitively answering your longstanding question “Wheeeeeere’s Pete?!” *insert catchy music*

In my congested and exhausted stupor, I zoned out a bit for the Borderlands 2 talk (it would likely induce severe vertigo, as most FPSes do). If that makes me a…what did Dan call it? Stupid? So be it. :-)

Anyway, it was good hearing half the team again. I expect with a full cast next week we’ll get a 3 hour episode. Nothing would make me happier.

Well, having our 2nd baby just come out already would make me pretty dang ecstatic.

If you guys want elegant co-op levelling, seriously consider Guild Wars 2. While it doesn’t fast-forward lower players to the higher player, if you’re above an area’s level it downlevels you to that level. So, basically, even a maxed out Level 80 player can still be challenged by things in a Level 2 area.

Seriously awesome. Other developers seriously need to take note of it.

It really is interesting, and a great change to the usual formula. No more easy cruisin’ through the low level areas one hitting mobs. They scale you down so you can still get experience, and possibly death, from them.
